A Hard-day at Tam Ky
Looking for anyone who may have known a John D. Baumgartner, USN, California.
There is a single picture of Roger Staubach in the montage. I worked with him at the Chu Lai beach in 1967. He was my interface with the Sea Bees. I was the Embarkation Officer for Task Force X-Ray which was the First Marine Division Rear in Chu Lai under BGen Styles. We were responsible for moving the division rear from Chu Lai to Danang in the early months of 1967. Roger was as fine a gentleman as you’ll ever meet. It was my pleasure to work with him.
BGen Stiles presented me with my Purple Heart I was awarded after being shot while pulling colors on June 16, 1966. Chu Lai was an interesting place. When I arrived in late December 1965 the flight deck was a bunch of flight panels bolted together!! It soon grew into a valuable air base where Skyhawks and Phantoms flew MANY missions from. Oh, the memories!
Hello, You have the only picture I can find of PCF 45. My Dad served on it from May of 66 to May of 67. Do you happen to have a higher quality image of it? I’d like to blow it up and make a print for him.
